Wissant
You win some, you lose some!
We wanted a one night stop close to the Chunnel for tomorrow’s crossing into the UK.
Wissant is a small coastal village we have visited in the past and seemed the perfect choice for walking the beach.
In hindsight, my choice of accommodations for the night proved to be sketchy!
The room was clean, and the beach stunning.

Montreuil Sur Mer
We visited this citadel town in 2012 with the British Morgan group. Today’s weather is perfect with blue skies, sun and 75 degrees. We complete the rampart walk which surrounds the town and explore turrets and fortifications.
Le Coquempot restaurant boasts two main courses, Beef pot or fish pot. My pot was full of tiny sweet mussels and crayfish with the white fish of the region. It was steamed in one pot with local vegetables. The best red wine I have had on this trip ( and that is saying a lot) was served. I need to track it down when we arrive home. It was from the Cotes de Rhône region. “Verre Sainte Cecile”.

Parthenay, Honfleur .
Wending our way back to England, we have six days to explore new hideaways.
People ask how we find these little gems. Our regular routine is to drive two hours and find a little town off the beaten track for lunch. We look for accommodations for the night on the fly; through Booking.com or Tripadvisor.com.
We have stayed at five star hotels and chic shabby B&B’s. Our requirements are simple: private parking and en suite bathroom. I read reviews and go from there!
These last few days have taken us to charming seaport towns and a medieval village.
Chateau Bonalgue September 26,27.
Our accommodations are well appointed. We have a shared kitchen and meet some new friends from Australia. A wine tour and tasting is Included in our stay at the chateau, and we happily compare vintages.
New friends from Australia! Cousins Lilly and Michelle, with husbands Viv and Patrick.
